Now back home and freezing. I keep drifting off to memories of a fabulous sailing trip on Ave Maria from Panama to Cartagena, Colombia. The San Blas Islands are paradise such a world away from the normal city lives most of us live. The 3 days spent in this island paradise was fantastic. Providing fond memories that will stay with me forever. Sindry and Paul the crew did a fabulous job of the trip. From taking us to their favorite fabulous secluded island. To feeding us the best healthy food and keeping us feeling comfortable and safe and safe at sea. Ave Maria is a brilliant trip and such a superb way to travel.

I just did the trip and the San Blas Islands are great, the 3 days we spent there where just fantastic. The boat is a super sweat ride. Comfortable, well maintained and a pleasure to spend time on. Food is beyond expectations, healthy and plentiful.
My trip was great value and quite a bargin when you look at the other options available and consider the added costs to get to or from departure or arrival points.
Ave Maria departed from Cartagena, Colombia and arrived in Portobelo, Panama so you save a bundle with transfers !
Here we are in San Blas and it is a glorious day. So many shades of blue, crystal clear water. The snorkeling has been fabulous around the nearby shipwreck. And our passengers have just enjoyed a siesta in hammocks under the shade of a coconut palm by the beach. Ready now for a little more underwater exploration.

Each day we visit a different, just as beautiful island paradise. Then on our 3rd evening in San Blas we will raise anchor and sail off into the sunset towards Portobelo.
From Portobelo buses leave every half an hour bound for Panama City, costing just $5.
