If you are looking at transport options to get from Colombia to Panama. Ave Maria Sailing is the way to go with Sindry and Paul.
I just did the trip and the San Blas Islands are great, the 3 days we spent there where just fantastic. The boat is a super sweat ride. Comfortable, well maintained and a pleasure to spend time on. Food is beyond expectations, healthy and plentiful.
My trip was great value and quite a bargin when you look at the other options available and consider the added costs to get to or from departure or arrival points.
Ave Maria departed from Cartagena, Colombia and arrived in Portobelo, Panama so you save a bundle with transfers !
We have just finished another boat trip from Cartagena to Panama via the San Blas Islands with a great group of people. Fabulous weather and a nice group of people made the days in paradise and on the sea so memorable.

So usually we run a policy of what happens on the boat stays on the boat. Though this was just too funny not to share. On this Boat Panama to Colombia.
During our last fabulous trip sailing from Cartagena to Panama we arrive and anchored at this island a little after dark. While some of the passengers were blissfully sleeping.
Shortly before sunrise one of the girls who had been sleeping when we arrive woke Sindry saying; ‘we are heading straight for an island and no one is driving’
Sindry told her that every thing is ok we have stopped traveling.
After while she returned quite concerned saying that the boat was moving and we are going to sail straight into the island.
Little did she realise that the sails had all been packed away. The engine was switched off and the anchor was down. Oops!
Lots of giggles over breakfast and a great day ahead.
Another group of Happy Travelers arriving in Cartagena after an awesome sailing trip from Panama to Colombia.
Sailing in San Blas
We experienced 3 delightful days anchored by the sun kissed, coconut palm lined beaches of our favourite uninhabited islands in paradise. Each day after breakfast we weighed anchor and sailed a short distance to a different island where we swam, explored and relaxed.
Each night after dinner a beach bonfire was enjoyed by all with some choosing to sleep in hammocks under the stars on the island … sensational.
On the second day I gathered firewood and cooked up the famous all you can eat bbq buffet.
A great trip, with a great group of people!
Oh and by the way. Once again no one was sea sick. It was a very comfortable ride across the Caribbean Sea on this sailboat from Panama to Colombia.

With half of 2018 now past and a little time to reflect on what the season thats past has brought.
I am happy to advise that during our trips Sailing from Panama to Colombia or from Cartagena to Panama;
- Less than 5% off of our passengers have experienced seasickness.
- We have seen way more dolphin activity. Including much more frequent visits by dolphins while anchored in San Blas.
Thank you to all the great people who have enjoyed these sailing adventures with us. It’s been a pleasure to meet you all.
